I wouldn't write about it if it is just mildly annoying. But, this is getting me really disappointed! The whole purpose of instant chatting is diluted.
I do understand that people like to use icons in the chat. They really make the chat fun and more expressive.
But...aren't the guys at Microsoft smart enough that when I type "this", I'm not referring to tHIs? I'm not saying Hi to anyone! I'm just referring to something through the word "this"!!! Are they that stupid?!!!!! Just because a combination of the two letter "hi" appears within a word doesn't mean that it is a HI!!! This is just so so plain simple fact!
Oh yeah...these guys are really smart; otherwise they won't be earning a fortune of $$$ at Microsoft. So, the problem of detecting "this" is not saying "Hi" must be a super complicated process! After all, there are tons of words that contain the two letters "hi" within them! So, how can the software possibly know that? Exactly! It's very difficult! Hands Up!!!
But wait...I heard of a jargon called "delimiter"! I don't know what the computer science students at school mean when they are talking about delimiters. Sometimes I hear white space, sometimes a dash. I was also told they can be used to check the start and end of words. Don't ask me how to do. That must be a super complicated process too! Hmm....maybe this super-complicated things called delimiters could probably solve another super-complicated process of detecting "hi" in the word "this" is not really a "hi"?!!!
I'll keep myself occupied for the whole night pondering on how a super genius at Microsoft will make a wonderful discovery on solving the problem I mentioned above.
But, please please some super geniuses at Microsoft, please solve this! I can't take it anymore; a right-click on the icon and a left-click on Add to see what the word behind is too painful for me! (Don't ask me to turn off the icons altogether! I am not like you guys who can stare at Unix...oops...Windows black-screen command prompt all the time. I want some fun while chatting!)
Well...before these geniuses come up with a rescue, a dumb suggestion to remedy the problem is just to use a dash or some other sign to prefix or suffix the word to represent the icons. A plain example will be -hi or $hi or #hi instead of just hi.
