PPT Day 8

Finally fallen sick and staying back in the hotel for the day. Hope I recover fast enough before tomorrow and can go along with the group.

It's really bad to have an upset stomach and to not feel well and to not be able to concentrate.

By the way, 3-1 win for ManU made my day somehow though. :)

PPT Day 7

Today is the Day 7 of our project and by now, four members including both bosses of the project are already down. I'm not in a good shape either; now trying to brace myself up mentally so that I won't fall sick tomorrow and leave logistics in disarray. I really need to get well by tomorrow! Feeling like vomiting and my brain has blocked.

Yeah...it's been a very tiring trip and our limited human resources have been really strained over the last several days. I hope it doesn't get worse in the next few days as we have men down in the group.

I have written diary for the days of the project but I have no energy now to type them on the blog.

Please wish me to get well ASAP!

Perfect

There's no prefect person and there's no perfect time.

We just need the courage to do it despite the imperfections and difficulties. That's when we truly perceive perfection.

PPT so far

I have kept daily diary posts for each of the days we have been here. But I forgot to bring the book here...so gonna just be a short one now.

There have been unexpected things and there is uncertainty surrounding us too. Not that it's going haywire. Just that the plans became so dynamic. As a matter of fact, that's a good thing too...to adapt to the always changing situations. :)

It's been a pleasant trip so far anyway. :)

Short note

There's nothing that sucks more than not having enough time. I didn't think I'll have to send this post from email again.

Didn't have time to archive memories from the previous trip. It was just a fantastic trip with awesomely fun and cozy friends. If I thought I wanted to relax there, my wish was fulfilled!

That trip, I was thinking to enjoy more than take pics. That I did too. With the 50mm lens there wasn't much to capture also. I tried to capture those moments more with my eyes and heart coz there isn't any better place to keep the memories than in my heart.

The other day, I was watching a series from the very first episode. It was like reliving their memories after their 10 years of life, and the feeling was nostalgic and pleasant. I think when I rewind the tape of my heart and relive  those memories, it'll be the greatest feeling ever in life.

Thank you to my friends who made it happen!

I'm gonna leave soon for Burma and will be disconnected for the next week. To my friends in Singapore, have a great holiday and wish you hybrid happy new year!

Phuket Day Three!

Just elephant show, ATV, elephant trek, and rafting.

No beachy view today. Just activities. Elephant show was nice and I had a good time with the elephant. While on elephant trek, unexpectedly found that the elephant captain is a Burmese.

Raft was cool and it was a new experience!

After dinner it was Thai massage. Had a great deal of laughter with Evan occasionally screaming. LOL!

Still haven't taken any picture of the beaches yet. Tmr must really take photos!

For now just going to bed :)

Phuket Day Two!

So sleepy now. And so hard to type from small little phone. So gonna just shorten it.

Got up at 5 and prepare for the beach day. We left at 745 and got to the pier around 9 I guess. Then took speed boat to the island. We were adventurous and sat at the bow side of the boat. It was so bumpy at the front. But the view is spectacular! the vast sea and the enormous space! really love it!

Then got to The small beach and did some swimmig and photo taking. The water was so clean and the rocks were so beautiful!

Then snorkeling! It was so hard to move around with the flippers! Swimmm in the sea is just so different from doing that go pool. The worst thing is it's too too salty! can't open mouth at all. Sometimes water went down the nose and the whole air passage way got so burning! I really hate that. I got it worst when I got a full gulp of that salty water. I thought I would pass out from getting thirsty.

But the fish and coral were so beautiful!!! Loved it!

After that visiting some other beaches and had fun.

Dinner was at the same restaurant. But there was no going around as it started to rain. Gotta rest now to get up early for tmr again.

Phuket Day One!

This is just a short post from email. No computer here. Only wireless access and lucky that can still use email from cell phone.
At Changi airport, things were just pretty much okay. There was no delay or whatsoever.
Arrived at phuket airport go early evening. Even before the plane landed, we could see the beautiful rocks from the plane window. Yes, they are really beautiful.
At Thai immigration, the officer asked me where I was going and I didn't really know what to answer. I just said "phuket". Looked like I was jokig with him. I was at the airport already, where else would I be going?
The first joke of the trip was when we saw the taxi driver holding the card "Mr Joanna Wong". She has since been a Mr. ;)
Got to the hotel and we managed to plan for the next three days go just a short while. Must thank Jo's and jingy's bargaining power. We got great deal for the packages!
After planning, it was already night and all of us were so hungry. Settled for some Thai food at a nearby restaurant and went around to explore the area.
Came back and went to bed to get up early the next day. First day was without any beachy thing in sight. But the next day's gonna be full of it!
Looking forward to the phi phi island!

Phuket

things to do in the water in phuket

Soon, will be taking off to the holiday destination! Don’t know what exciting things await there yet, but I hope it will be a relaxing vacation trip. :)

Just anxious about the weather and checked it on some weather sites. BBC forecast is the least I like:

image

Heavy Rain Shower? Are you kidding? I hope BBC is! (But Weather.com also gives somewhat similar forecast. Only AccuWeather gives forecast I would love to be right.)

Anyway, I gotta go back to packing (which I haven’t done at all yet) =D

I just found that out while looking through the route on Google Map. =)

Friends :))

Smelly Cat

Ichiban

Still loving these two from the series. =D
After all, it was a good ending. And a good realization that it was never filmed in New York although everything (except UK and Las Vegas) happened in NY!

Botanic Garden

It was just a casual visit to the Botanic Garden…to play monopoly in the garden. What a weird idea I would say! LOL!

2009.12.13 - Botanic Garden & Orchard (4) This tree must have been at least several decades old. So huge its trunk is!

2009.12.13 - Botanic Garden & Orchard (12)

It was the first time I saw a non-yellow-color sunflower. I am not sure if they have been intentionally bleached or if I’m just ignorant of this type of sunflower.

2009.12.13 - Botanic Garden & Orchard (7)

I don’t know what that is. I also didn’t expect that it would look that way when I took the shot. Turns out it doesn’t look that bad. I’m glad that I made myself look awkward taking that shot. In the end, got this photo that I like. :)

There were lots of weddings and couples taking wedding photos.
These two little girls came to our place and happily played with the stuffs left over from a wedding celebration. I got myself plenty of time to take photo of them while they were playing around. I think their cloth color and the background made nice match!

2009.12.13 - Botanic Garden & Orchard (43)

2009.12.13 - Botanic Garden & Orchard (49)

I thought it would just look ordinary, but after editing the color tones, I think it’s not bad. It gives some kind of reflective mood. :)

Then off to City Hall to have dinner. Lucky that I wasn’t the loser in the game. :)

2009.12.13 - Botanic Garden & Orchard (50)

I have always admired St. Andrew Cathedral at City Hall. Though not a good photo, I think that' was the best of all what I got of it. =D I was so limited with the 50mm lens; I tried moving backward but I would not risk being run over doing that though.

Then off to Orchard for some more photo taking. I couldn’t help but complain about the deer this season. What’s wrong with them?!!!

SoC labs upgraded...finally

Just went there for the CS1101 practicum. I was surprised to see the new wide-screen monitors in the lab!

The computers have also been upgraded to Core2Quad processors and 3GB of RAM. But the OS is still Windows XP which by now should already be Windows 7. The screen is now 1600 x 900; not Full HD, but 16:9 wide-screen. Not bad overall!!!

This upgrade cycle benefited Acer instead of Dell. I don't know if it is by design, but it took me more than a few seconds to find the power button to turn on the computer. I thought I was like a Noob :x

Real Time Search!

image

Been hearing about this so much on the web, but still haven’t seen it yet. Just realized that I could try it from clicking on links in Google Trend.

Turns out that it’s really cool to have search results scrolling all the time. =D Perhaps Google can offer a watch-page for certain keywords that will keep showing the latest results scrolling all the time.

Coincidently, Finance also got real-time scrolling news. =D

Google Chrome Extension Gallery

image

I don’t know when it went live, but anyway, it’s live now. I’m glad that quite a number of pretty good extensions are already there on Chrome. [I’m still waiting for BetterGmail extension though.]

The Google Translate extension is really cool and fast in translation though I have nothing good to translate (and understand the new language) anything. =D

I think it only runs on the Beta channel of Chrome. Need this channel switcher to move to a Beta or Dev channel (I just anyhow set to Dev just to make sure the browser is updated).

Sooner or later, gotta choose between Firefox and Chrome? I don’t really wanna leave Firefox just because a newer and better one comes along; that would be too cruel to Firefox. :x

Update: I just realized that I didn’t need to restart the browser to install extensions on Chrome. Firefox should really update its install procedure!!!

We are the world

Was helping PPT secretary with a song to perform there. Suddenly I remember this pretty old song. :)

Tiger Woods

 Google Trend

It’s really a hot trend now. One article said it was rumored that Woods is linked with as many as nine women. That’s a lot dude. But, I’m curious to know if they claim any credibility beyond doubt. :)

Chrysler – The World without Walls

Chrysler is trying to improve its public image through this commercial. A good move!

Venus Flytrap

Link to YouTube video

A nice high-res clip from BBC. I have never seen them that close. I also didn’t think that there would be that big remains of the preys after several days of digestion.

Too bad it can’t be embedded though.

Extraordinary choreography

Chanced upon this video randomly. I would say that's an amazing two minutes of performance! Extraordinary dancers! Superb choreography!!!

A Divine Conference?

A lot of conflicts the world is seeing these days are between the religions: Christian vs Islam and Islam vs Jew.

Why not God, Allah and Yahweh call for a divine conference and resolve the issues their followers are having at hand? Aren’t all of them the omnipotent and benevolent? Isn’t it time yet for them to take some actions for their followers if they are all benevolent?

Burma – Saudi

image

Hmm…Burma and Saudi Arabia? They got no business to do actually. Saudi also has nothing to benefit from Burma too. But, an interest-free loan (possibly without a deadline for repayment) is just like giving the money away. For Saudi, USD 8m is just the size of a sesame seed and this would just be a no issue for them as a diplomacy gift.

But, how many of the 8m will be used for the proposed irrigation?

Giggs – the best of ManU

BBC Article

Yes. Paul is absolutely right. Giggs has been the most loyal and influential player the Reds have ever got the service of!

By the way, Paul is considering retiring soon, which makes me realize (not that it’s an unknown fact till now) that players retire before 40! When can I retire? 50 may be even still too early! :x

Google Dictionary

define:soccer

I just saw Google Dictionary from a new article that says it’s gonna replace Dictionary.com. Yes, I really think it SURELY will. For all the words it has in its dictionary, Google shows detailed information and for anything it doesn’t have in the dictionary, it still shows the Web definitions! One weird thing is that Google Dictionary doesn’t have the word Google in its own dictionary; I think it should have it and the definition is simply “searching the web using Google search engine” (I remember that’s the definition given by Google).

Not just English dictionary. It can also do translations and Foreign Language > English dictionary too.

EULA Ware

Was just reading an article on Open Source business models. The author described Closed Source software as EULA Ware and its description is funny at the very least. =D

Some of the Open Source business models are quite interesting (and the way they are portrayed is funny):
